Arizona is about to Make a Single Conviction for Sex Trafficking of Minors 12 and under a natural life sentence. Currently, defendants face a sentence of between 13-27 years in prison, but under this new bill a defendant will face natural life.

Under the new House Bill, Arizona will add two offenses to the list of natural life sentences: 1) Child Sex Trafficking and 2) Commercial Exploitation of a Minor.

While the sex trafficking offense will gain the most headlines, the commercial exploitation of a minor charge is also included in this bill. A person can be convicted of such offense by using a computer to “persuade, entice, induce” a minor to engage in what is defined in Arizona Law under 13-3551(5) as Exploitive Exhibition.
